Assistive Living

Assistive Living
Welcoming Those from Amherst, Lancaster, Kenmore, NY & the Entire Buffalo, NY Region

You, like many other seniors, are often waiting until much later in life to downsize and transition to a senior living facility. Your independence is important; however, you might face a few medical challenges that may exclude you from living in or moving into a senior independent apartment.

Horizons is our assistive living residence located on the Beechwood campus. This is a new specialty care program that looks and feels like an assisted living residence and costs the same as traditional assisted living; however, residents have immediate access to advanced nursing and medical care under our skilled nursing certification. Ideally reducing unnecessary trips to the hospital for minor changes in condition.

Benefits of Assistive Living

We can help seniors avoid unwanted trips to the hospital and provide the immediate care they need. That means no waiting for an ambulance to arrive and sitting for hours in the waiting room. Instead, you will promptly get the help you need at Beechwood Homes.

You will feel more comfortable with the immediate care our assistive living residence offers. Mentally you will be less stressed knowing someone is available should you need them. Physically you could spend less time suffering from aliments and more time being tended to.

You may not yet be at the point where serious medical concerns are a priority for you, but that does not mean that the time isn't right for assisted living. It's not always easy to know when someone should make the transition from living independently, but there are certain signs you can look out for and factor into your decision. For example, is it becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with basic daily tasks like cooking and cleaning? Many of the warning signs essentially boil down to this central issue: you can no longer do what you once could on your own. These struggles may manifest as poor hygiene, a disheveled living environment, weight loss, forgotten medication, missed appointments, trouble keeping up with bills, neglected pets, or other similar problems. They can result from both physical limitations and the decline of mental faculties. In either case, an assisted living facility will provide major assistance. You also might want to make the transition because of safety concerns, especially if your home has a lot of stairs, or feelings of isolation due to a lack of social interaction. The reasons to consider assisted living are plentiful and different for everyone, but if you are experiencing any of these issues, we recommend having a conversation about your options at the very least. You may find that becoming part of an assisted living facility like ours sounds very appealing after you learn more about it.

If you wish to experience all the benefits of living at our assistive living residence, please get in touch with our team. We would be happy to address any questions you may have and go over all the details of what life is like inside our facility and what kind of care you can expect.
